I do not know, my former colleague used 5% minoxidil for a beard for 3 or 4 months, and had some kind of effect, but when he stopped using it - his beard (its absence) returned to its original state.
And there is another example - a familiar woman (not particularly young) used 2% minoxidil on the eyebrows for quite a long time (year or one and a half). The effect remains so far, plus as a bonus of the eyelashes became thicker.
Apparently, to save the effect you need to use it for a year minimum.
