Default Why are the Australian accents so hard to imitate?

As an American I find it easy to slip into "RP" English- like Prince Charles style. I can do Irish, Scottish, French , even I-talian. But I've never been able to successfully imitate the Australian accents- not even the "broad" one .My only guess is because it's so polar opposite to my own natural accent, where as the RP English seems to easy to slip into, I just can't do Steve Erwin or even refined Australian to save my life. I can say a few words such as "shaaaaaaak" (for shark) but I can't do the unique brogue that they have. Do most people find it hard?

I have to say, as far as mimicking accents, I too can’t really pull off an Aussie. A stereotypical posh RP English accent on the other hand, I may (however bad to the ears of any actual Brits).

Nine out of ten concerns are completely unfounded.

Not really. It still won't sound natural Australian. It seems like they have so many quirks that you have to be a natural native to do it.

Probably because you're not exposed to it much. And I doubt your English, Irish, Scottish, French accents are any good. I've only ever heard some British do an OK job of imitating the Australian accent, and even they rarely get it 100% right.
    Spoiler!

My Prince Charles voice is absolutely splendid.

I'm pretty sure I could do an alright imitation TBH, we usually only imitate each others accents for fun or to mock each other.

My step family have the "fush and chups and nu ziland" accent and we grew up together. I don't understand how it came about, but here we are, mocking each other for fun on Christmas day. It sounds awful so I can understand Aussies taking the piss out of us.

Well, that's a given. New Zealand English is practically Australian English with some funny vowels. Would never know the likes of John Clarke and Tony Martin weren't Australian from their accents.
