Well, some kind of dislike, however. When there was the Brexit the existance of a growing number of Poles in the UK was spoken of as a motivation. (I don't think that it was just a general dislike of foreigners that preferrably and more politically correct was projected towards a white ethnicity.)
I don't state that this dislike of Poles applies only to English. I just wanted to somewhat "correct" that appreciation of Poles that is expressed in that Churchill quote.

Uncomfortable to others, yes.
There is an enduring complaint, making up claims, self-identification as a victim, a constant feeling of being shortchanged and a pronounced Polish chauvinism.
This is a simplification and I emphasise that this does not apply to every Pole, of course. But it applies to a proportion that is big enough for being repeatedly noted for having these characteristics. Peterska and Jaroslaw Kaczynski are good proxies for that.
