I was discussing with someone else this. When dubbing/translating/interpreting, you are not just conveying words, but entire concepts and contexts. In this ancient clip from Aussie soap Neighbours, the iconic Madge Bishop at 1:57 says "yeah it would be (a beautiful day) if my neighbours moved to Thursday Island". Whereas in Britain, we would insult someone we are annoyed with by saying they should move to Timbuktu or Bermuda.

Over here it is both China or Guayajayuco in the border.

Other key colloquial expressions which would be interesting to translate would include "peace and quiet", "mournful dirge", "getting up you nose" and "insult to injury".

"peace and quiet" = paz y tranquilidad, more or less.
"mournful dirge" = muro de las lamentaciones (aunque la imagen que viene a la mente es la del sitio en Israel, pero usualmente se usa para esto).
"getting up you nose" = ir hasta la coronilla.
insult to injury" = usualmente se usa "llover sobre mojado".

Also, in the DR, when you want to refer to a group of people pejoratively as "that lot", how would you say it?

I notice you people use "cara amarrada" much, we also do over here.

The equivalent to ""cara-de-pau" here would be caradura (boldfaced), more or less.

Vira-lata also has the same meaning.
