Well, the ones on the reserves identify with their tribe so they already have ethnostates (sovereign nations). They can't integrate their culture into ours without being tribalists. Non-whites were never considered Americans anyway.

In most parts of Virginia, in some circles, claiming that you are a descendant of Pocahontas is some sort of status symbol. (There's even a "Pocahontas building" in Richmond).

In Northern Virginia, that just gets you laughed at behind your back.

I have minor Amerindian ancestry 2-3% and I have cousins who are somewhere around 10%, and they identify as Native, it's very amusing.
