Twitter has done a lot of harm to the aura that celebrities once had. Before they seemed like unreachable people to the masses. Now they comment on twitter about every little thing and the masses have come to realize they're not much different than anyone else. I think many of them have damaged their careers by being on twitter. If you're famous and don't want to hurt your pocket book it's best not to piss off either side of a political debate. It's best not to comment on anything political.

I think it's due to America imposing its social mores on the world. Was there ever a point in time of American history when entertainers like actors, minstrels and comedians were less valued than doctors or scientists?
