In any case anything short of complete Ukrainian military destruction and annexing or creating a new state that encompases all of eastern Ukraine (East of the Dniper river) and southern Ukraine anything short of that is a loss for Russia. They cannot forgo the northern eastern oblasts they need all lands east of Dniper via a proxy puppet state or straight up annexation.
