Are you even aware that these people had a huge population exchange with Turkey ? They exchanged their native Muslims with Caucasian/Anatolian Christians, many of these Christians included Turks and Armenians.

This map is very accurate for sure, showing Cretans lighter than mainland Greeks, and Greeks as light as Turks ,Also Portuguese as light as Turks, north Africans lighter than south Italians and Most of Spain.
