It was the only way Greece and Turkey could function as nation states within the Lausanne Treaty borders. There was no other way to separate the Byzantine from the Ottoman inside those states, only via religion which just so happened to separate the non-Turkic ethnic Anatolians from the Turkic ones.
It's a sad history but it is what it is, imo, I'm not torn about it, either way.

It's also funny how this Serb complains about Muslims, does this guy even know it was a Muslim Serb who restored Christian churches in Kosovo such as the Patriarchate of Pec? If it wasn't for this there would be no Serbian churches there today. Most Kosovo Serbs and others would of probably become Muslims like Albanians. These churches were also used to wage war on the Kosovo Albanians in the 19th-20th century despite Albanians had protected these churches back then.
