Default Peloponnesian Greeks are closer to continental Greeks than to Cretans and Cypriots.

These are all the soccer players of Greek super league whose origins are from Peloponnese

I concur because Peloponnesians, with few exceptions, are mostly of Vlach and Albanian/Arvanite ancestry.

Cretans, on the other hand, and all other Greek islands, for that matter, are closer to ancient Greek genetic make-up, whether due to historical or coincidental (PCA component breakdown inference) reasons that remains to be seen.

It is the Peloponneseans and Greek islanders that had colonies in Albania and the Adriatic. They set up colonies as far as Croatia and beyond that were populated by Greeks ever since. I also suggest you read the book Grecita' adriatica by Braccesi Lorenzo.

Those Peloponnesean colonies in Albania joined the native Epirotic Greek tribes of Albania, and those places have always been populated by Greeks. So your argument is moot.

I thought it was already commonly accepted that Peloponnesians were closest to other mainland Greeks, no?

According to what are Island Greeks closer to ancient Greek genetic make up? As far as i know, Peloponnesians are the closest u can get to classical period Greeks, not the Islanders.
