Yes, Montenegrins are Serbs. They have same genetics, same language, same religion... But nowadays everyone wants to be independent, so...

    Similarly:
    - Austrians are (Southern) Germans
    - Belarusians are Russians
    - Cypriots are Greeks (except Nothern Cyprus)
    - Flemish are Dutch
    - Moldovans are Romanians (except major share of Russians in Moldova)
    - Ukrainians are (Southern) Russians
    - Walloons are French

Totally agree. And Ukrainians are Russians too, and Moldovans are Romanians.

I think Petrovo Selo is only Serbian and non-Vlach village in Kladovo municipality. Unfortunately as many villages of eastern Serbia in recent time is almost deserted, due to migration in cities of eastern Serbia, Belgrade, western Europe etc.

The name Montenegro was first used to refer to the country in the late 15th century. After falling under Ottoman rule, Montenegro regained its independence in 1696 .

Im not very familiar with this, but subgroups of Slavs were created all around of world. If we deny Montenegro which has history of 500 years + then we would deny all other Slavic countries or not?
In that sense Slavs would be all Russians and everyone trying to create a new country and migrating to central-Europe would be still called Ruskis or not?

School book for the students of the first class of elementary school printed on Cetinje in 1906. when Montenegro was independent state.

On the right side is written:

    Prayer
    God help and bless,
    To make this beginning happy.
    Instruct me, Serbian student,
School, the book be easy for me,
Give me health, strength and will,
To listen, learn as best I can.
    Plant love in my heart,
To love my brothers, my friends,
An everyone, who is in Serbian kolo,
    Especially Serbian church and school.

From proto-Montenegro marked with red line as semi independent Serbian state to the present days borders of Montenegro passed 250 years. Montenegro got all that territories with wars against Ottomans and victims but also heroism of locals Serbs, except bigger part of the coast and little hinterland which became part of Montenegro by will of communists after WW2.

Montenegrins are part of the more general Serbian ethnos.

It's not an ethnicity on its own, but a strong regional identity withing Serbs
