So I’ve been looking my haplogroup up and everything I’m finding seems to indicate that it’s practically non-extant in the Iberian peninsula, with the greatest frequency being, of course in Slavic countries. The closest I’ve been able to find is that R1a is present within the Pas valley in Cantabria, with no specifications given that I can find. I’ve read some conjecture on z282 possibly coming from Slavic Muslim mercenaries and slaves that were imported during the time of Al-Andalus, or possibly coming from the Visigoths via some of the Slavic people they absorbed along the way. Nothing concrete, however. Luckily I stumbled across a thread from here and was reminded that this place exists! So I’m back just to inquire if anybody might know anything regarding the apparent anomaly that is my Y haplogroup relative to my ancestry.
