It depends. An immigrant willing to invest 10 million will obviously be positive for the economy. A disabled immigrant who will never be able to work and who will receive aid from the state will not be good for the economy.

In Canada immigration is causing a huge problem
(which is good for government and banks)
A large number of immigrants are being allowed into the country
but not enough houses are being built.
As demand is greater than supply, housing prices are skyrocketing.
In the 1970s, uneducated factory workers could afford to buy a house
but today people with university degrees cannot afford to buy a house.
Also, due to the multi-culturalism philosophy, Canada has no Canadian culture.
I would say that Canada has the least amount of culture of any country in the world.

Not good deal for anybody,in my home country many educated young students who are freshly graduated get very often invited/pushed to immigrate and work in first world countries who profit from these skills that they bring. This causes a brain drain since the country invest in its human ressources from as a child to adult to then lose it to another country who will profit from that,it is also sad because the home country is often in need of highly skilled individuals to grow the economy. For the host country its bad for societal/cultural gaps also.

Exactly! Emigration harms the home country.
Many people think that Canada is a great place. Yes, it is a good place to work and earn money BUT the cost of living is quite high and Canada is an F-ing boring country. As I told some family members in Croatia: In Canada my wallet is full, but in Croatia my heart is full.

Immigration does raise GDP, but as a whole immigrants are a net negative when it comes to the amount of taxes they pay vs the amount of public resources they drain from the system, and i think this is very well established when it comes to most developed countries. And in the long run people also have to consider other possible ways that immigrants can harm and economy, such as via the lowering of average IQ and differences in how these new demographic groups vote.
In the end it all depends on who your country is letting in.

Ponder this:
What do the Native Peoples of North America think of the European immigrants in the 16th century.
