Giethoorn is located in the north of the Netherlands, about an hour and 20 minutes drive from Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport. You can travel by train to the nearby Steenwijk station and from there travel further by bus.

Some people call this city as "Dutch Venice" but most likely it doesn't have much to do with Venice except for canals. It looks totally different and has its own charm (well unless too many tourists make this place loud and crowded I guess), this is one of the most beautiful places I saw recently with all this green, architecture etc. Also it seems like the one of the most popular tourist destinations in Netherlands, this small city is flooded each year with thousands of tourists.

Another cool things, which btw sounds like ultimate Dutch things to me is the fact you can skate on the frozen canals but ofc it's good to be sure the ice is thick enough. I bet you can't really do that in Venice(if I'm wrong let me know).
