Ukraine has the right to retain their territory, but I will not condemn Putin for what he is doing because of the past history of communist successes which has been also a result of western collaboration. To blame Russia must also entail blaming the west for supporting USSR against the nazis. Without western shipments of weapons into USSR, Stalin would not have won and not have become an occupier of Crimea thus leaving this issue unto Putin. Putin and Crimea, are like misfit person for a wrong task, to say exactly, it is like the west trapping USSR for this current situation. I would say such a war outcome will become historically significant as a WW3 for the unprecedented strategical paralysis of a whole superpower`s army. It is a political and spiritual torture in medieval style for Russia. Both Ukraine and Russia were trapped in a strategic geopolitical theatre that they themselves can not deal with alone. This proves that communism can not be taken up as a nationalist legacy, Putin fell into this trap and got hell-scorched. Like Russia taking the victory of WW2 against Nazis as a national pride, China taking the current economy success for a national revival, same trap, different design. If China do not take notice from this war, China`s fate will be worse since communism is more saturative in China. Communist successes either military or economic, are not nationalistic legacy, we should return the fruits to the world where they are dued, do not claim them as ourselves.

This war shows me two things:

1-Communist successes(military, political, economic, scientific) are the result of international collaboration, do not claim them on nationalist basis.
2-War can not disown communist legacies, nor can joining the western alliance and coalitions; but as a form of idealism, anticommunism is fully justified.

I support this war ending as soon as possible by Zelensky giving into Russian demands (autonomy for the Donbas, NATO missiles out, and giving up claims to Crimea), instead of causing people more needless suffering (both the Ukrainians and ethnic Russians in the Donbas).

But NATO will fight until the last Ukrainian, while certain companies make a fortune sending weapons that most of the Ukrainian military have no time to learn how to use properly.

They only gave like what 30 billion in total which is like 6 months of the Russian army budget and even with all this money Ukrainians still have enormously less tanks, planes, boats, weapons than Russia. And I don't see How NATO missile is threatening Russia, NATO is a defensive alliance and it's not like there's no missiles in the baltic states. This argument is a total nonsense.

I can understand the Crimea (URSS given out Crimea only for logistic and administrative purpose) and part of the donbass argument (Pro-russian being a majority at the east of the donbass) even if people that believe in the donbass autonomy are fools, they will just be aborbed by Russia.

I didn't say NATO is forcing anyone to fight. NATO (really the US) is prolonging a war that Ukrainians can't win by giving them arms, and hence a moneymaker for certain companies. It's a proxy war between NATO (US) and Russia.

The Russian military wants an open war instead of an urban one because they would easily wipe the Ukrainian military out. An urban war benefits Ukrainians. You don't miraculously become well trained in using new military equipment overnight.

Baltic nations are in NATO. Ukraine is not (all but name). A war with the former means war with NATO.

What matters is what the Russians consistently have said for two decades after being lied to their faces about NATO not expanding east if they allow East and West Germany to unite. They have said to NATO (US) not to meddle in Ukraine. There is a record of this. That is the line they have drawn and demand to be respected. You can call NATO a defensive alliance all you like but when you have 'defensive' missiles that can easily be turned offensive and you have consistently lied about your intentions in the past (the broken promise made about NATO not expanding east), why would the Russians believe anything said by the people who have consistently lied to them before?

People have short memories. We - the US - have done the same during the Soviet era when we supported an invasion of Cuba. It failed but the point was we did not want a nation in a pact with our greatest enemy sitting 90 miles away. The possibility of nuclear war was there and only ended when the US took nukes out of Turkey so that the Soviets would take them out of Cuba. If it wasn't for the possibility of nuclear war the US military would have invaded Cuba without question and in fact there were US generals pushing for it even with the possibility of nuclear war.

It's possible that Donbas might be absorbed now but the opportunity for Donbas to be autonomous was on the table since 2014 and instead the Ukrainian government bombed and killed civilians. This war didn't start in 2022. It started in 2014 with ethnic Russians in the Donbas having legitimate anxiety over discrimination after Russians had literally been burned to death and shot in Odessa while authorities looked on.

If you think this is brutal, then you're not familiar with military history. This is perhaps the tamest major war in the past 100 years. This doesn't diminish the loss of innocent life but it is the reality.
