Croat-hungarian diplomatic tension

Orbán caused diplomatic tension between Hungary and Croatia when he said:

Hungary would has no problem with the russian oil embargo, if they hadn't taken it's sea

He was referring to parts of Dalmatia which belonged to the Hungarian Crown.

Sometimes Orbán says such things, but Hungary has no any territorial claims in Croatia. I have never heard any hungarian to talking about it.

He was not thinking about Dalmatia, which was not part of Crown of Saint Stephen, he was clearly thinking about port of Rijeka which was corpus separatum joined directly to Hungary.
However, what he did not mention was that Rijeka was unlawfully joined to Hungary via illegal Rijeka Patch which was later included into Croatian-Hungarian settlement and sanctioned by Emperor Franz Joseph.



He can help us build and modernize railway connection Rijeka-Zagreb-Budapest, so in exchange we can long-term free loan some Port space for Hungarian needs

We can expand this topic into Croat-Hungarian relations in general. I was in Hungarian National Museum and I have been very surprised with the magnificent collection of silver treasure (mostly dishes) known as "Seuso treasure": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seuso_Treasure. I made photos, so I can add them here if someone wants. However, you can read in Museum that it has been found near Balaton lake and there was no mention about other theories of its origin. I have just googled about it and I have found another possibility that it originates from Istria, Croatia. An American court judged that neither Hungary nor Croatia (as successor of Yugoslavia) proved their claims and gave it back to its former owner, one British lord. Hungary has later bought it from his successors. I consider unfair that Museum doesn't mention it because it should be serious scientific institution and I think that Croatian diplomacy should react.
