Russia's President Vladimir Putin has apologised after his foreign minister said that Nazi leader Adolf Hitler had "Jewish blood", Israel says.

Mr Putin made the apology in a call with Israeli PM Naftali Bennett, his office said in a statement.

Russia's account of the conversation did not mention an apology.

Sergei Lavrov made the initial comments to try to justify Russia's portrayal of Ukraine as "Nazi" despite the fact that its president is Jewish.

Mr Lavrov spoke to Italian TV on Sunday, days after Israel marked Holocaust Remembrance Day - one of the most solemn occasions in the Israeli calendar.

When asked how Russia can claim that it is fighting to "de-Nazify" Ukraine when President Volodymyr Zelensky is himself Jewish, Mr Lavrov said:

"I could be wrong, but Hitler also had Jewish blood. [That Zelensky is Jewish] means absolutely nothing. Wise Jewish people say that the most ardent anti-Semites are usually Jews."

Israel had demanded an apology, with Mr Bennett saying shortly after that "such lies are meant to blame the Jews themselves for the most terrible crimes in history and thus free the oppressors of the Jews from their responsibility". In Thursday's statement, Mr Bennett's office said that he had accepted Mr Putin's apology and "thanked him for clarifying his attitude towards the Jewish people and the memory of the Holocaust". Russia said the two discussed the Holocaust, but did not say Mr Putin apologised. Israel has tried to mediate between Russia and Ukraine, but has also faced criticism for not taking a tougher line against President Putin. Israeli media this week reported that Israel was considering boosting its military and civilian assistance to Ukraine.

I doubt it Hitler had a German piggish nose and was alpine+Nordic+minor borreby and quite southern German looking.

A southern sub-nordic such as Hitler may have the imagination to imagine racial differences but the Prussian just does what he is told.

Not entirely true, but could you really blame them? Pre WW1 German empre was literally paradise compared to most of the world at that time. Taxes were at a meager 6 percent, working hours already were lower than in most other countries, there was universal state provided health insurance (which most countries lack even today), industry workers got free houses of their own after a set amount of time spent in their professions, unemployment and poverty was extremly low, research and scientific work was top notch, the army was the mightiest in existence at that time and school was free and mandatory for everyone for at least a century and a half by then.

What I said is a matter of perspective. In the perspective of an average German citizen, or as a matter of fact every average joe on the planet at this time and even half of earths population nowadays it seemed like paradise, so there was no reason fo them to complain.

Hitler's heritage has been called into question before, but I'm starting to think that this view is much more widespread than we previously thought. The media may have also played some role.

I can recall the conversation with a Sydney QC or queen's counsel's wife a while back. (Won't reveal their identities.) She was the second wife of that QC and had two grown up daughters from her previous marriage. The younger one was dating a Jew and he was also present at this dinner at their North Shore home. I had a good talk with her, her eldest daughter, and her Pakistani-Australian Christian female friend who was married to an Irish Catholic Australian. THE SECOND WIFE herself was a Catholic. That friend of hers by the way was firmly convinced that 'Israel did 9-11', but THE SECOND WIFE herself believed that "Hitler Was Jewish".

And according to my own DDC (DNA Diagnostics Center) DNA paternity test report, E1b1b is a Founding Lineage of Ashkenazic Jews.

Hitler's nose was actually very long and prominent, he also had very bulging eye balls that would fall of his eye sockets if he didn't had the skin on his tipically jewish hooded eyes. His vault was quite high and broad. Big ears. Dark hair. Big eye lashes. Big Eyes. Very Jewish looking.

Bulging eyes and prominent noses are just a result of bad facial development in a lot of cases. If you look at his nose, it really isn't that prominent compared to his forehead, but it look big compared to his cheeks and midface region, which are recessed.
