It is interesting that Ukrainian identity didnt exist until 20th century.
Before that, they call themselves Rusyns/Ruthenians.

Ethnic Ukrainians were historically known as Ruthenians until the early 20th century, referring to the medieval land of Ruthenia, which was the Latin term for what is now known as Kievan Rus, a medieval East Slavic state with the capital in Kyiv.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainians

The ethnonym Ukrainians came into wide use only in the 20th century after the territory of Ukraine obtained distinctive statehood in 1917.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ukrainians#Ethnonym

In 18-19th century, when todays both northern Serbia and western Ukraine were parts of Habsburg Empire, there were migrations of East Slavs from Carpathians into Pannonian plain in todays northern Serbia.

They formed here settlement with name Руски Крстур - Russian Krstur.

Why not Ukrainian Krstur, if they came from hardcore western Ukraine?

Do you think that if the Ukrainian government had been more friendly towards the pro-Russian population and would have avoided using militias with extremist ideology as an auxiliary arm of the government, Russia would not have invaded Ukraine?

Those conscious Ukrainians mostly left the region. Huge percent of population would accept Russia, no matter what's their ethnic identity, being Ukrainian does not automatically mean being Ukrainian nationalist and state patriot.

Ruthenians in Serbia look very Slavic, nothing carpathid about them. Hutsuls who are definelty an isolated Vlach tribe have these carpathid traits.

No, their culture, lifestyle and anthropology show them as a sort of ultra-vlachs and inbreds who live in an isolated region for centuries.

In any case, I was very optimistic about the opportunity to take the whole Black Sea coastline to Russia.

Ukraine in this scenario becomes a landlocked country.
