Arab hospitality is a meme. In desert countries there used to be huge emphasis on travellers and passage, since back then there were no establishments to rest and take cover from the heat of the desert, so if you're hospitable you will be known by that, and travellers/Hajj pilgrims would deliberately visit you since you're known, and you would not miss the trading potential they bring along with them, it's like a type of Buddhism, for one thing you just didn't meet total strangers as often and you do not know who that person is or how they will affect you later on.
Not to mention the tribalism in that region predating Islam, they treat their foreign workers like absolute shit, they still have African slaves for labour, and they also are the biggest contributors of sexual slavery. They just pretend its part of their culture and don't allow anything to report about it. Sadly poor people will send what is left of their children to go die for a place that doesn’t give two shits about them and sees them as rubes and slaves to be used and abused.
Even at the absolute height of the Syrian Civil War and the biggest surges of asylum seeking and refugee waves were happening, they didn't open their doors. They will pay millions of dollars to air condition tents in the desert, but they won't let one darkie in their borders. Fairness and gratitude for a kindness given are purely Western values. No wonder we never encounter them among Arab refugees in the West.
