It think its very reasonable what it has to say.

Generally its hard to cope for people growing up with the western indoctrination that is about being self-centred and being socialized towards a lot of things that are considered to be morally wrong throughout history and in most civilizations, and are apparently now okay.
It takes self initiative to decode yourself from unhealthy amounts of individualism and materialism and egoism, I am far faaaar from completion myself.

This life according to all abrahamic faiths is nothing but a test, its not about seeking your sinful (mostly instant gratification activities) enjoyment here but resist the tasteful apple and achieve a greater good.

Generally its true that the delayed gratification and asceticism which are a significant teaching of our faith, shown to be the way of life to happiness even in this life, everything that can be attained instantly with flashing adverts of joy and happiness make you fall into a deep hole shortly after, explains the suicide,drug abuse and depression rates of our society.

You can be a sloth, eat your fast food, sit on the couch, play video games... All these activities are designed to very instantly trigger your endorphins to fall into a hole shortly after and repeat, and its okay to do these things, unless you do them constantly.
On the other hand working out, eating healthy, cook for yourself and be involved in activities that are fun but require concentration like reading a book do not instantly trigger your endorphins but if you consistently do these activities, you are 100% feeling overall better, have a objectively healthier body and you are generally more happy.

If we would not have parameters or guidelines attached to salvation which includes the key element of baptism to get rid of the original sin and much more, there would be absolutely no christian claim to truth and award attached to moral behaviour and punishment towards immoral behaviour. This logic alone answers millions of questions for me, I hope you find the answers you are looking for, I have the feeling you might feel attacked or lectured by me, that was not my intention, just trying to reach out.
