You get compliments for your poetry, though. Oh, wait!

No names mentioned, but in thumbs yes; however, song and poetry are closely related and with most here having your taste in music I would worry that my standards had dropped to boyband proportions if I garnered any verbal kudos from such an ilk.

Poetry ? Most poets don't know math and the latter is more important in 2022. Most people are unaware that math is elegantly beautiful like sculpture without appealing to our weaker natures and without the gorgeous trappings of music and paintings.

Mathematical beauty is superior to transient human beauty since math will still be around when the Parthenon is dust

I like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Depeche Mode, U2, Coldplay, the Killers, Ennio Morricone, Tchaikovsky, Judas Priest, etc. I suppose that none of these artists meet your standards.

Either false modesty or sometimes some attractive people dont believe they are good looking but this can be due to body dysmorphia when the peson is fixated on percieved flaws they have in their looks.
Some people by personality are just shy and even though they got it they dont have natural confidence to flaunt it.

There is a lot of pressure on women to look beautiful in society and usually this pressure is not from male population in general but from other females and media.

Other option is that they could be fishing for people to say oh but your soooo attractive.

Anyway there is nothing particuliarly original about a man telling a pretty woman that she is "Pretty/Beautiful", she surely has heard that a 100 times before.

Also attractive women can be a target of jealousy from other females, so could be another reason they play down awareness of their looks.

This is how I feel. I've been complimented numerous times on my appearance , but I feel borderline ugly. I just don't see it. Sometimes I pretend I feel special, but deep down I hate how I look. No one can fix this for me, but I was made in God's image.

Tbh, when I receive such remarks I don't deny it nor answer, i simply smile and let it pass.

What puzzles me is the fact that people instantly and automatically associate your physical appearance to certain personality traits: e.g., since I look 'cute' (the classical " good boy" look) people assume innocence, wholesomeness, purity and the like. Don't they know that appearance might be misleading? Inside, I could as well be a dark triad personality type like, say, Patrick Bateman or Dorian Gray.

I suppose part of the reason could be that they won't care if you mention their beauty because they've already heard about it a million times before from others, also I think some beautiful people are scared to acknowledge the benefits society gives them. Also in general I think someone calling themselves beautiful is seen as vain.

Interestingly, I've noticed that "beautiful" people are less likely to accept any type of compliment.
    =(^.^)=

Also I don't do classifications currently, sorry.

I agree with the last part about it being considered vain in some cultures but not in all. I guess it depends where you are and what type of people you are surrounded by. There are definitely benefits for “beautiful” people but also beautiful people often trigger insecurities in others leading them to be treated quite awfully too. It could be another reason.
