If you are in your country and you are of immigrant background how do you react if someone reminds

Take what they say at face value and just walk away. Walking away isn't me trying to avoid their question per se, but more so acknowledging that *I am* an immigrant/descendants of European colonists from Europe. The best thing to do is acknowledge the facts of what their saying and defuse the situation by finishing up the conversation to walk away.

I don't think that they're retarded, just being nice, big hearted. I suspect it's just that the English have governed much of the world, it gives them a perspective that isn't so provincial as most of the rest of us. They see the world as part of their "worldview", rather than just the nation.

I dont think that is the reason since Spaniards also governed much of the world and Spaniards dont try to convince our immigrants they are as Spanish as ourselves.
I think the reason is leftism, pure and plain. Brainwashing people, nothing else. If you are 24/7 saying immigrants are as native as real natives, at the end people believe that shit, and I think this happens in North Europe since much time ago. Here not, fortunately. Maybe in future but not still.

I think I would take it with joy if they remind me that I am Spaniard, and talk to me about it. I would feel that it is a good topic of conversation and a sign of respect.
Another thing is if they if they call me an immigrant (in bad ways) or anything that has nothing to do with me.

I know they dont. I also didnt asked whether they do because I know they dont. I wrote my experience down, because some immigrants consider themselfes as austrian, german or british or french as anyone else. I dont know if they have this experience as well. I just wrote my thoughts down and my experience because it recently happened again and i was thinking about it.

I don't know what the definition of homeland is, but I feel at home in Austria, which I actually am, but I don't know if it is my homeland by definition (perhaps the definition of homeland is genetic and being autochthonous and also biologically adapted to the flora and fauna, for example a blond Scandinavian is probably more biologically adapted to Northern Europe than a dark-skinned African due to vitamin D consumption (as a dark-skinned person probably suffers from a vitamin D deficiency in Scandinavia while an autochthonous person is better suited), it should actually be clear from my contributions that I don't plan to go to Serbia in the short or medium term, and want to live in Austria.
