I will say this:
No immigrant can never, but ever, become part of the ethnicity of the country that hosts him.
Civic nationalism is bullshit, only native citizens should be considered citizens.

If youre an "appealing" person, most people would be glad to see that you becoming part of their ethnicity.
If youre NOT an "appealing" person, most people would be glad to see that you ARENT becoming part of their ethnicity.
Admit this reality and move on.

Not exactly the same thing. If people ask me whether I visit Turkey I don’t take that personally(you didn’t take it personally too) but it doesn’t remind me that I don’t belong here. I always was and am the „Turk“ among friends, even among migrant friends too, thats what I am ethically I can’t change it, thats what defines you. That sounds odd, although I am obviously different, I wasn’t something different too at the same time. If you were born in Serbia, I would say thats your homeland, but your home is Austria if you feel so. I was born here, so although I love Turkey, it is not my homeland. Germany is my home, why should I say Turkey is my homeland if I am not there? Or why I should mourn? Don’t misunderstand me, but if you would work you would probably have even stronger connection to Austria and less to Serbia. And in my opinion, supporting Serbia in sport wouldn’t be a problem, thats cool, unless it isn’t something political or whatever like many other migrants do.

Well it’s true, you can’t become another ethnicity. I think this is just an opportunity for people to get to know your background and initiate small talk. They are just showing interest. I’ve had it happen to me because I don’t obviously look ethnically English. Most people are lovely and genuinely want to know about you if you appear different. Not everyone is out to get you. It could only be uncomfortable if you are trying to hide your ethnic background.

British are so retard...
ROTFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL, here in Spain happens the contrary, it is very common, and many immigrants wannabe Spanish complain about this, that people ask them that "where are you from?". I do it in every chance I have.

I don't think that they're retarded, just being nice, big hearted. I suspect it's just that the English have governed much of the world, it gives them a perspective that isn't so provincial as most of the rest of us. They see the world as part of their "worldview", rather than just the nation.
It's just that, when done in the era of mass-immigration, it is self-harming and dangerous. Something that maybe most ordinary people realise but much of the middle class are yet to understand well.
I've seen some Muslim people here, argue similarly, that they *are* English. I just don't think it works like that, nor would I want it to.
Like Groucho Marx said: "I refuse to join any club, that would have me as a member!".
