AFAIK Ashkenazi Jews being a mix of Italian converts + minor Central-East Euro converts and genuine Levantine Jews, makes them cluster near Sicilians and Greek Islanders, but it doesn't mean that Sicilians were originally Jews or that Ashkenazi Jews were originally Sicilian

This PCA is the result of projecting just 2 coordinates among several, if we change the coordinates of components groups for each axis all these groups will plot in a very different position.

The so called Eastern Mediterranean component, shared in different quantities for geographical closeness between Levantines, SE Europeans and Italians, (specially southerners), is what produces this genetical overlapping with these populations.

I consider South Italians, Greek islanders completelly Europeans indepently regardless of that PCA or others.
