Any 'English' people who the populace believes are English but are actually not?

I mean people like Helen Mirren who is half Russian and changed her name. Helena Bonham-Carter is another who has Spanish and Jewish ancestry - Steven Fry is half Jewish etc. Or Kate Beckinsale with Asian ancestry, Daniel Radcliffe Jewish etc.

Many others? Could start a thread of 'English' who aren't very English.

Wow, Emilia Clarke is one-eighth Indian. Had no idea although now you mention it, I see it. Although she definitely passes as white, I wouldn't really see her as anything but English unless I knew. But she's 12 percent Indian which is quite a lot.

Countless celebrities and sportspeople who are 50-100% Irish, Scottish or Welsh, but born and raised in England and just considered English by the masses. Too many to name.

But I suppose you mean ancestry from outside the British Isles. Lots of Jews/half Jews with English names in the media, Simon Cowell for one. Martin Gore from Depeche Mode is half Black American, and Dave Gahan half Malaysian. Ricky Gervais has a clearly French name but his personality is so English that it's kind of surprising that he is actually half French.
