Default Why Ainus do not phenotypically resemble East Asian people?

Some of them remind me caucasoids and others australoids.
Which peoples are they genetically related to?

By the time photography was invented they had already absorbed Jap genes, but whatever the evidence, I can't see them as connected to Australoids, something screams out isolated Caucasoid which was possibly more pronounced before breeding with the Japanese.

Ainu have a good amount of ancestry from Ancient North Eurasians, and I believe that the recent findings of the ancestral breakdown of the Tarim Basin mummies show that ANE were phenotypically European. These mummies below were both about 75% ANE by admixture and could pass for Northern Europeans today. Their remaining ancestry was similar to East Asians at about 25%, so this is likely a similar mix to what the Ainu had, although perhaps the Ainu had a higher proportion of East Asian and lower of ANE.
