Why does Scandinavia lack "swarthy types" unlike Britain?

I don't think swarthy Brits are that uncommon, especially swarthy English and Welsh, i was in Sussex recently and noticed the amount of people with quite a orangey complexion despite quite clearly British facial features, you have Nigel Havers Kate and Pippa Middleton, Colleen Rooney, Bear Grylls Richard Dawkins It seems that at least 10-20% have a non pale complexion and is probably linked to French and Belgian influences.

True, but that is still distinct from the dark olive skin that the majority of MENAs and a notable minority of Southern Europeans have, which is what I would call truly 'swarthy'. No fully native Brit is going to look like Alvaro Arbeloa or Lorenzo Insigne.

Germany has a good number of swarthy types too, especially in Bavaria. It is just that its non-swarthy majority has substantialy more blondes than is true of the British. I agree about the Dutch and Scandinavians though.

Also, Paleolithic Brits were mostly dark-haired (but often with light eyes and pinky skin).

What is interesting is how swarthy some Belgians can be, considering that it is next to the Netherlands there are a lot with a rather central Euro skintone

I suppose you mean that it is easier to find a Spaniard who looks British than vice versa.
