Maybe I'm wrong but schoolbooks in countries that are part of the EU can't promote irredentist wars as it's against EU values. If a country wants to indoctrinate its children on ultranationalism at least it shouldn't receive subsidies and/or investments.

1. The EU has nothing to do with hungarian schools.
2. 2,5 million hungarian live in the Carpathian Basin outside of Hungary, of course the hungarian president do care about them and the school books are promoting the togetherness, there is nothing wrong with that. You know patriotic politicians are still exist, who do care about their of nation instead of foreign interests.

Who would intervene on behalf of Hungary and against Croatia, Serbia, Romania, Slovakia?

Why Croatia? Hungary has no any territorial claims in Croatia. And these little countries are all irrelevant in the global politics, the greatpowers will decide like Moscow, Ankara, Washington and Brussels. Orbán has very good relationship with Putin and Erdogan, why do you think its impossible? The borders are always changing, especially in Europe, you should know it from the history books. Do you really think that the current borders will remain forever? Th future is unknown, so who knows? Anything can happens.
