Depends. Most of the spiders I've seen are the harmless long-legged type (pholcidae). I don't kill them, just throw them outside whenever I spot one in the house. They are kinda lame, not scarry.
We do have some species, which could pose some threat to the humans, such as the Black Widow (Latrodectus tredecimguttatus and possibly mactans) and a species of Wolf Spider- Lycosa singoriensis. I wouldn't want to meet those.

Edit: Lycosa singoriensis is not a type of tarantula per se, but is part of the Wolf Spider family. However they are commonly called "South Russian tarantulas", "Romanian tarantulas", etc. Hence the confusion.

Mostly tarantulas of my very own tropical zone of the Americas (specially monstrosities like the Goliath birdeater of upper South America).

No, not really. It doesn't mean I would pet a Tarantula but I am not bothered by the spiders we have in Portugal. In Portugal it is common to say that spiders should not be killed because they are associated with a symbolic belief that they bring luck and/or money

Same here. But I usually don't care for such "signs".
    Do what you should.

No, but a Tarantula or one of these bolting huntsman spiders, would bring chills down my spine if I had to catch it.

The Croatian climate benefits them .
I read or heard somewhere, that a high oxygen environment enables them to grow larger. I dunno if it is true, but it seems to fit. The spiders in the Amazon forest, for example are big enough to drag and eat small mammals.
