Looking through the list, there are six instances involving Russia being substantially more corrupt than its neighbours; three instances of Israel being substantially less corrupt than its neighbours; three instances of Syria being substantially more corrupt than its neighbours; three instances of Rwanda (!) being substantially less corrupt than its neighbours; three instances of Venezuela being substantially more corrupt than its neighbours; three instances of Chile being substantially less corrupt than its neighbours; two instances of Germany being substantially less corrupt than its neighbours; two instances of Georgia being substantially less corrupt than its neighbours; two instances of Jordan being substantially less corrupt than its neighbours; two instances of Iraq being substantially more corrupt than its neighbours; two instances of Saudi Arabia being substantially less corrupt than its neighbours; two instances of Yemen being substantially more corrupt than its neighbours; two instances of Ethiopia being substantially less corrupt than its neighbours; two instances of China being substantially less corrupt than its neighbours; two instances of Uruguay being substantially less corrupt than its neighbours.

N.B. Furthermore, those who like to generalise about Europe being uniformly well-governed and prosperous or Africa being uniformly poorly-governed and impoverished overlook how neighbouring countries can differ dramatically in this.
