Well, the portuguese are the bad guys in the new Magellan-Elcano series called Sin Limites (Boundless)
In my opinion it's like B01AB20 said, Spain and Portugal would be better with no Habsbourgs and no Armada Invincible or ties with the Low Countries.

I think it's good entertainment, i like historical series.

Some parts are fictional, like the one you mentioned or Magellan and Elcano being in the same ship. Or Magellan going to a prison to personally convince Elcano to join the expediction.

Rodrigo Santoro does a great (european) portuguese accent, if it's really him talking.
