I meant in the political sense that England barely changed in 1707 and it continued on the same. We latched on.

Within Scotland the lowland Scots displaced the highland ones but that was without English influence or even interest. I don't perceive a cultural shift from outside Scotland. Wales, on the other hand...

My identity is primarily British, then British Isles, then English, Scottish, Irish.

If I had to choose one it would be British.

I don't understand people who live on the island of Britain who deny they are British.

Maybe it's because anybody can be British now. Once, for a couple of hundred years, it meant a combination of all native ethnicities to the isles. Island nationalism. Now, it's just a name for any ethnicity that resides there. And are these migrants really British? Some yes, many no.

Interesting how the UK is still referred to as Britain. On UK cars you even see the sticker GB, despite the fact Ireland isn't part of it anymore.

Highlands was emptied for sheep and deer over the people. If anything the lowland population changed due to northern Scottish & Irish migration into the Central belt and then the engineered depopulation of Glasgow in the 20th century.

It was a class thing. Rather than blaming England or lowland Scotland, it was rich folk with inherited land.

Team GB is short for GB&NI but yes.

Most of our territories also aren't mentioned.

The United Kingdom was Ireland and Great Britain. But now it's "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" and the Union Flag still uses the now Archaic Irish St Patrick Cross.

British Isles, i amn't sure how old that is. Irish people don't use it.
