Default Post examples where a small country has an impressive winning ratio over much larger countries

    Rugby union

New Zealand has a positive winning ratio over every other nation it has played, including much larger nations such as Australia, South Africa, Argentina, England, France, Italy and Japan.
Wales has a positive winning ratio over France, Italy, Argentina and Japan, as well as a 48% winning ratio over England: 60 wins, 66 losses and 12 draws at the time of writing. (During the amateur era, Wales actually had a positive winning ratio over England).
Ireland and Scotland also have winning ratios over Italy and Japan, as well as Argentina in Ireland's case.
Fiji has a 50/50 winning ratio over Italy and a positive winning ratio over Japan.
Samoa has positive winning ratio over Argentina, Italy and Japan.
Georgia has a positive winning ratio over other European nations like Russia, Romania, Germany, Spain and Portugal.
Uruguay has a positive winning ratio over other South American nations like Chile and Brazil.

    Association football

Uruguay has a positive (or at least neutral) winning ratio over several much larger nations. See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urugua...to-head_record

Not a country but the Republic of Dagestan, notorious for the big number of proficient mma athletes and wrestlers.

Having a small population does not mean necessarily having less practitioners at said sports though, one have to take into account the popularity of the sport itself. For example on average rugby in Portugal isn't a thing, apart from some college students. Rugby is somewhat elitist in Portugal.

Well Portugal has proven to be a lot better than anticipated in this World Cup, drawing with Georgia and losing to Wales and Australia by only twenty points each. Definitely the team that has won the most hearts.

It is now 61 wins and 68 losses to Wales vs England at the time of writing, England having won this year's Six Nations match and the second of the two World Cup warm-up matches despite being down to twelve men at one point.

Not a small country, but I think noone has a more impressive winning ratio than this man.

Antoni Bou i Mena (born 17 October 1986) is a Spanish professional motorcycle trials rider. He has been the sole outdoor and indoor FIM Trial World Championship champion from 2007 to 2022. With these 32 world titles (16 outdoor and 16 indoor), he is the most successful rider in history, surpassing Dougie Lampkin (7 outdoor and 5 indoor) and Jordi Tarrés who is third with 7 outdoor titles. At the age of 20 years and 5 months, Bou was the second youngest rider ever to win the World Indoor Title,[1] and the youngest to do it on a 4-stroke motorbike.
He competes representing Spain, but if you think he's a autoctonous catalan representing Catalonia then you have the small country too.

The guy is not a star or very famous despite his amazing trajectory, he's simply the guy that always wins
