How I view it is that Taiwan is to China what Hawai is to America, some small island which belongs to their country, now if China protects Hawai etc. from the US? Enough of the NATO bullshit and for everyone in the world it is better if there is a balance of a few superpowers because as we know power corrupts, thats why in a democracy in a country there is division of powers like executive, legislative, jurdicative etc. It is wrong if the power is in the hands of only a few 1% of the ones who lead american politics

Don't give China so much credit. They're an economic mess and their military sucks.

Been out for a few days. Don't even know if you remember posting this, oh well. I don't dispute that their economy is a clusterfuck, still, theirs has been quite the comeback and considering they've outlasted so much, including a famine, some credit their way, is merited. Doesn't make me happy to acknowledge, in fact it's infuriating, mostly because all we keep doing is underestimate them.

They complain about their own men being pussies (they blame the one child policy for creating pampered boys).

We're very public about those same complaints, what's more we cater to our candyasses gladly. The one child policy made for parents having only one bundle of joy to settle for and unsurprisingly, not one they'd want to sacrifice even for the country, so yeah, sure makes your son into a pussy, but enough for it to shrink the population in time and that be every single family unit? Nah. Pretty big diaspora that seems loyal to China in great amounts too.

Their pussiness not withstanding, they still have meat shields a plenty to spare and proximity to the island in question. We have a thinly yet widespread spread army, across continents with a tenth of their population. We said the same about Russian males and we still can't save these places that we're weeping crocodile tears over, because we're trying to be everywhere at once. We can only fight them with ships. We've had that one China policy for a reason, all it takes is the meddling of another nuclear superpower in one place that's too close to them, making them believe that neighboring turf will make itself an existential threat and they grow a sack.

They're a real enemy only because they put a target on our backs but they know they have serious issues they can't overcome any time soon and so they're thinking long term.

To be honest with you, it would've been great if we employed even a fraction of that long term thought. When the issues we have grow and give rise to new ones, no one in leadership can seem to muster hindsight nor the will to think beyond their own generation. Once more, they've survived way worse and more than we have, for longer. We had a depression, sure, along with everyone else, so we can't flex that and a civil war while they've had those through their recorded history and the one in recent memory that gave us a current Taiwan.
They're unapologetic chauvinists with no sign of blatant ethno-masochism and that gives them staying power.

They're taking gradual steps to one day be the biggest bully on the block but it'll be a long time before they get there.

Obviously, they have cards to play, such as a lot of our shit is made there, but that will gradually change and shift towards southeast nations, such as Vietnam, that love the US and hate China.

They already make stuff for us in Vietnam, but nothing major, they were never an equal to China (even Japan was seen as a backwater to them for ages) very few were. I trust none of them really, "love" from an East Asian country is a fickle thing, not something I'd expect to last.

In a worst case scenario the ideal outcome IMO would be for the allied forces to invade China and: grant independence to Xinjiang since they are muslim and to cripple China also, free Tibet of course, return HK and Macau back to the UK and Portugal respectively (or make them indie too) and finally, to observe tradition, turn Manchuria into some autonomous-foreign based region with allied troops and UN blue helmets for some 20 years. It goes without saying that Formosa keeps his current status.

Perhaps the Han should leave Formosa and give it back to the aboriginals, as Taiwan was never their land to begin with until 400 years ago.
