Two Kosovo Serb youths wounded in drive-by shooting by ethnic Albanian


BELGRADE - Two Kosovo Serb youths were wounded at Gotovusa, near Strpce, on Friday after an ethnic Albanian man opened fire at them from a moving vehicle, the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija said.

In a statement, it said the attack had been unprovoked and that the two youths - who are males and relatives aged 11 and 21 - had been walking by the side of the road and carrying Yule logs at the time the attacker, who is a local, shot bursts of fire at them.

The Office said they had exit wounds through the hand and shoulder, respectively, and were extremely lucky to be alive and out of vital danger.

Serb young man beaten while returning from midnight Christmas liturgy in Kosovo

A group of Albanians beat up Serb Stefan Tomic (18) from Klokot at around 2:30 a.m. while he and his brother were returning from the midnight Christmas liturgy in the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Klokot, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija announced.

The young man was on his way to his aunt’s house after attending service in the church when he was attacked by a group of Albanians, some of whom he recognized as security guards at a local restaurant, the statement said.

Stefan suffered injuries to his eye, arm, abdomen and legs, and he sought medical help at a health facility in Vitina.

BELGRADE, August 1. /TASS/. The goal of authorities of unrecognized Kosovo is to drive the Serbian population from Kosovo and Metohija, said Petar Petkovic, the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija under the Serbian Government.

"Actions [of Prime Minister of unrecognized Kosovo] Albin Kurti are aimed directly against Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija and their objective is to drive Serbian people and Serbian institutions from Kosovo and Metohija," Petkovic said. Belgrade will continue issuing documents of the Republic of Serbia to all citizens from Kosovo and Metohija, he added.

The situation in Kosovo and Metohija deteriorated dramatically on Sunday evening after Kosovo’s police had closed the checkpoint at the border with Serbia. In response, Serbs in the north of Kosovo took to the streets and blocked key highways. Police and the Kosovo Force (KFOR), a NATO-led international peacekeeping force in Kosovo, were pulled to the bridge across the Ibar River, which links Kosovska Mitrovica’s northern and southern parts.

In his address to the nation, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said earlier that the situation for ethnic Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija has aggravated after Pristina had decided to ban Serbian documents starting from midnight from Sunday to Monday. The Cabinet of Kosovo postponed the decision later for one month until September 1, 2022.

As for someone here mentioned 1690, there are different versions of it, the Albanian one is certainly closer to the truth, and the Serbian one is nonsense but even lets say the Serbian version was true: imagine coming back after hundreds of years to supposedly claim a land that you had already left and even keep the land you also left for . I think you people are asking too much , especially when taking into consideration even Montenegro which had a larger Serb population was let go without any war. The north of Kosovo prior to the war used to have a large Albanian population too.
