    Default The Mallorca Files

Sold to over 80 countries, 'The Mallorca Files' is produced by BBC Studios, Clerkenwell Films, BritBox US and Canada, Cosmopolitan Pictures, ZDFneo and France 2, with Ben Donald, Murray Ferguson and Dominic Barlow executive producing.
I thought it was a very good production to be shown in nursing homes.

They have hired some Spanish actors but other characters playing Spaniards look very weird and strange, I don't even think they are Spanish, even some Germans play a Spaniard and they fix or characterise it by giving the actress impossible hair and hairstyle to give her a wild look.

On the other hand, the Spaniards are presented as unhinged, wild, corrupted, extrionic, eccentric, crazy and passionate to the point of the ridiculous, with loose and childish morals, in short, a truly ridiculous production with a weak script and no rhythm.

There are also some timid attempts to simulate and imitate North American productions with Latin American characters.

    No, no, not very bad

According to oral family tradition E-FT155550 comes from a deserter of Napoleon's troops (1808-1813) who stayed in Spain and changed his surname.

The small-time Spaniards criminal characters always run away in a ridiculous way, I'm sorry but they don't master the chase scenes and don't know how to edit them afterwards, they look ridiculous.

I don't understand how Antena 3 TV has deigned to buy this rubbish.

    Gabriela Montaraz

This woman is Spaniard, I doubt it. She plays Margarida, daughter of a local winemaker. They thought they were very well documented when they used the name Margarita in Catalan, but after another character called Carmen, daughter of Joan, they forgot that it would be Carme (pronounced Carma) but of course they needed a Carmen.

    Pía Laborde Noguez

This woman is Spaniard? I doubt it.

She plays Lucita Moreno, a prostitute with an impossible hairstyle. If you Google Lucita Moreno you will only see several Latin American girls, it is not a diminutive name used in Spain.

Do they think they can pass anything off as Spaniards?

She's American and so unlikely to have a Spanish background (Spaniards are rare in the US).

The film industry is not straight forward, so to speak. It doesn't matter if the person is authentically Spanish, French, Mexican, German, etc. Favors to talent agencies to give roles for specific actors the agency wants to promote is a reality.

Goofy romantic comedies in foreign countries always make caricatures of the locals. That's nothing new.

Especially TV is guided by clichés.

There will always be the power to complain.
