    Default Erdogan's views regarding Crimea

More evidence that Erdogan cannot be trusted by Russians...

    https://tass.com/world/1497487

Turkey believes Crimea should be returned to Ukraine if agreement signed with Russia

ANKARA, August 24. /TASS/. Crimea should become a Ukrainian territory again if Russia and Ukraine sign a corresponding agreement, Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin said in an interview with CNN on Wednesday.

Russia’s annexation of Crimea is not legal, and Turkey’s stance on this has not changed since 2014, Turkish television channel TRT quoted Kalin as saying. "This should be the basis of any agreement to be made," he added.

Crimea and Sevastopol adopted declarations of independence on March 11, 2014. They held a referendum on March 16, 2014, in which 96.77% of Crimeans and 95.6% of Sevastopol voters chose to secede from Ukraine and join the Russian Federation. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the reunification treaties on March 18, 2014. Ukraine, the United States and the European Union still refuse to recognize Crimea’s independence and the peninsula’s accession to Russia.

Meanwhile, Turkey’s leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Tuesday that "the return of Crimea to Ukraine, of which it is an inseparable part, is essentially a requirement of international law."

He hasn't changed sides. He's always been a member of NATO. But Turkey hasn't joined anti-Russian sanctions, because the Turkish economy is too reliant on Russia. It wouldn't benefit Turkey to be downright hostile to Russia like Europe is.

This is just foolish talk. If Erdogan genuinely thinks this, then he must be getting senile. Because Russia will never willingly give up Crimea. Because it's part of Russian territory, inalienable, and also because Crimeans overwhelmingly want to be part of Russia, not Ukraine. It will take a nuclear war to try to dislodge Russia from the Crimean peninsula. So Erdogan should stop smoking whatever he's been smoking.

Erdogan is a true leader imho.

The way he establishes a independent foreign policy, has the balls to go against the american overlords and negotiates with all parties in the interest of Turkey, makes me respect this man.

Its funny how the Jew of Kiev met Erdogan with the biggest respect as he cannot guilt trip him, meanwhile Ukrainians have repeatedly treated German officials like shit and always demand things in the worst way possible, as our country is a country of people with no backbone and driven by a feeling of guilt and submissive attitude.

Yes, I agree. It's a huge contrast to Germany and Europe as a whole.

I see the Americans are beginning to threaten sanctions on Turkish companies who do business with Russia. We'll see how this develops. Germany is totally obedient to the US.

    Here the khan was cunning.

Putin has already said everything on this issue on March 18, 2014, and this is definitely not subject to revision.
