I was about to say the same thing. How does NYC compare specifically to Sao Paulo, Rio, Belo Horizonte, Porto Alegre, Curitiba, Florianopolis, Manaus, Recife, Salvador or Brasilia?

Well, it is quite similar to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo (mainly São Paulo, motorcycles are more common there).

In regards to other city capitals, it seems like Curitiba, Florianopolis and Porto Alegre are quite safe places, that Recife, Manaus and Brasilia are a "middleground" regarding that and Salvador is quite dangerous as well (but Salvador is not a highly populated city capital, Rio and São Paulo are still closer to NYC).

It was comparing as a whole, as far as its crime.. That's all.. In order words, as in the type of crime you would see in a favela... Or the bad areas of a 3rd world nation.
