Still not. Despite the efforts of the system, a mixed marriage is something reviled. Prejudice is forbidden but exists. For now.

From my experience, it is not uncommon in Croatia to call Romance peoples (except for the French, they're called frogs) gypsies, when resorting to insults. I've heard that many times, especially when involving Italians (since they're our neighbours and all), but also when the targets were Spaniards and Portuguese. E.g. last year, when Dinamo Zagreb played against Villareal, the crowd in a pub where I watched the game shouted stuff like "break that little gypsy's leg" etc.

Let's just say that the racial insecurity levels in some Balkan lands are rather high.
