(For instance one of those JWis rang my door yesterday looking for a Portuguese speaker to say a bible verse in his language. Keep in mind I'm in Argentina, I don't know, and really don't want to know how they knew it. If God does exist, these are surely not God's people.)
I love that type of outsider/anti-mainstream stuff myself. I read a couple of "SubGenius" books in high school. I discovered Mojo Nixon through his collaboration with punk icon Jello Biafra called "Prairie Home Invasion". I saw your images and needed to say something.

New order formed out of the ashes of Joy Division after the death of lead singer Ian Curtis. I have always preferred the bleak brooding baritone of Curtis.

Borderline pretentious---of course, but it speaks to the me when I am in one of "those" moods.

    Who doesn't love a J.G. Ballard reference?

I havent heard ethereal wave. I will look into it. I've had a hard time figuring out what subgenre my music falls into.
hmmm, hard to classified, but it's a kind of subgenre from the very streched and extrapoilated "new wave" and "new romantics" made by very shy and introverted people ,you have for this the english label 4AD
    https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/4AD

but in general it's a kind of slow downtempo pop-rock with the presence of a strong bass and back and forth crytallines guitars with female singers ,inspired by close or by far by THE COCTEAU TWINS or THE CURE for the sound of the guitars, aside the german Batcave band X-MAL DEUTSCHLAND for ex ,sometimes a bit more "goth" without being completly "gothic rock" sometimes a bit more with electronic loops and trip-pop elements like MASSIVE ATTACK for ex ,in my opinion in a general way it's fucking boring to listen and very not interresting ,aside maybe at small dose the band CLAIRE VOYANT https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claire_Voyant_(band) for the reason than Victoria Lloyd is a great singer

If you don't know him yet, you will love Frank Zappa.

Zappa is great. I actually met Tommy Mars, his keyboard player, a few years back on a visit to Southern Californian-Venice Beach to be specific. He is a very down-to-earth dude. Didn't ask him about Zappa. We talked about Debussy and Mahler. It was at a birthday party for a relative. Talking about music is better than talking about personalities in music anyway. Okay, I didn't know the guy named Tommy was Tommy Mars when I met him.

    Zappa was great.
I actually got to know "Sugarcane" Harris:

Did not ask about Zappa, but Don volunteered telling me that when he went to audition - Zappa had asked him, what had made him think he could play with Zappa.
So, Don had not said anything, but just played - and Zappa didn’t need to say anything anymore.

I loved his violin playing, he would ‘open the door’ and take you on a journey …

Being so young and still so impressed by famous musicians, at a music-business party I was propositioned by a couple of musos and feeling very uncomfortable Don stepped in, giving the musos a good talking to. I guess being much older than I and knowing the musos, he felt protective.
Whatever his ‘reputation’ – to know him - was to know he was something entirely different.
Needless to say, no “coal-burning” stories here.

    Sugarcane:
“If you go in a closet and close the door and turn the light on, that little 25-watt bulb is mucha. But if you open the door and go out into the sunlight, that little light in the closet ain’t shit”
I was truly impressed by his talent and his depth as a person and afterwards; - all that fame which had previously been impressive to me just became too superficial and shallow ‘light’ - like the mere 25-watt light bulb.
