The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

We have a new LOTR series called "The Rings of Power" and i think there are many Tolkien fan here including myself, so i would be curious for your opinion.

After 2 episode my first impression is the series is good and bad at same time.

Things what i liked (SPOILER ALERT!!)

-The begining of episode 1 was realy cool. We saw a little insight into the First Age. The War of Wrath was epic when great eagles and some dragons have fought against each other, just like the view of Angband.

-Various landscapes like Valinor, Sundering Seas, Southlands (pre-Gondor and Harad), Forodwaith, Lindon, Eregion, Moria, Rhovanion.

-Hobbit characters act well.

-Mysterious characters like Halbrand, Meteor Man. Sauron is disguised himself so we dont know who is him exactly.

-The music is awesome.

-Atmosphere of the rising evil is really good, for example orc in the house scene, forodwaith castle scene, appearance of Sauron among orcs etc.

Things what i disliked:

-The actor or Gil-galad doesnt look elvish.

-There are not black skinned elves in the canon, its just a woke bullshit.

-The black skinned elf acts very bad, according to the series he fell in love with a human woman, but i have not seen any romance in his cold face, when he is talking with his love.

-According to canon, the dwarfs always hide their wifes and kids, this behavior doesnt exist in this series, just like there is no black skinned dwarf like Disa, another woke stupidism.

-Its laughable when Galadriel jumped into the sea and after that she swam almost the complete Sundering Seas (such big like Atlantic Ocean). Its a joke, i cannot take it seriosly.

-Moria doesnt look correct. Basically its an underground city and we can see natural sunlight everywhere. Its not a gloomy Black Pit what the canon describes.

So in summary, the series is pretty good in general, but it would be much better without the woke influence and some other minor thing.

We share similar feelings. it wasn't as bad as expected but also nowhere near the level of the Lotr movies, but so wasn't the Hobbit.

The things I disliked the most:

- not mentioning some of the major events of the First Age (Feanor, Ungolianth), the Prologue was WAY too short, if you dont have the rights to show this kind of stuff why even do a series in the first place?
- Elven hairs, they are really ridiculous looking. It's safe to say that the Elves are the worst part about the show so far.
- Celebrimbor actor is way too old. I like him but he's too old.
- Gil-Galad so far is very lack-luster I hope he will improve
- there's no clear story so far

things that I liked:

- The main Hobbit girl. I think she acts really well in that role.
- the mysterys. Who is Meteor Man? Who is Halbrand? Is he Sauron?
- I loved the Boat scene. I know some people didnt really like it but I really loved the way it was intertwined with the Meteor falling on Middle Earth


Anyway I gave up my hope about it being a real adaption of Tolkien long time ago. So I dont care as much anymore.

Elrond looks very elvish in my opinion just like Finrod or Galadriel.

I really hope Halbrand turns out to be Sauron I think this would be an interesting dynamic. Galadriel looking for Sauron and having him right before her eyes all the time unknowingly (maybe even having sympathy for him before he reveals)

I think such behaviour would be consistent with what we know about Sauron in the 2nd age.

Who is Meteor Man? Who is Halbrand? Is he Sauron?

I think the Meteor Man cannot be Sauron because Sauron was not comming from the sky. The Meteor Man must be a maia send by valars. Halbrand can be Sauron as well and he is very suspicious, just like this character:

all joking aside, the show is like 10% Tolkien and 90% some woke fags

It's 10% Tolkein and 90% woke nonsense: I don't remember Galadriel being a badass warrior. Elrond was made into a pansy in contrast to badass warrior Galadriel.

I understand the Silmarillion isn't very in-depth and so that leaves room for creative license but it's already too different from Tolkien's work for me to enjoy. I didn't like Jackson's LOTR movies or The Hobbit, either. Even though Ralph Bakshi ran out of money and couldn't complete his adaptation of LOTR it's still better than Jackson's films.



The scene where Durin is upset that Elrond didn't come to his wedding or the birth of his children was so cringe. Everything with the Dwarves was cringe. They're made out to be so cartoonish.

I dont know, we didnt see her yet in the series, depends on how she is acting.
