The major reason of Russian expansionism are the insecurity.This is due to Russian geography,They are all plains,almost no mountains,All frozen plains,Ice and snow sealed off their ports,polar madness drives people crazy,This cause the depression became the Core of Russian culture,The world culture I category as three types:Happy(often located in tropical area),Sad(People have long history of civilization) And Despair(The russian type),Despair is different from Sad,Sad culture still has "hope" in it,Despair not,Despair culture only has the destined destruction.

As I've said, some two percent of population lives in Arctic/Polar conditions, in last 50-60 years lots of people migrated and now actively migrate from northern parts to central and southern aswell, North got significantly depopulated. They are not warmongers. How many wars have Russia been involved in since WW2, compared with the US? And especially after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Russia only gets involved when it is directly on its border, a real threat. And, they were invited by the Syrian government to help against terrorists. Russians are not warmongers. Don't believe the false propaganda.

That isn't entirely true - they intervened heavily in Angola, Ethiopia, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan... But I agree, outside Eastern Europe and Central Asia they have been far less a threat to national sovereignty than has the USA, whether as the USSR or as the Russian Federation.

Typical landscape of European part of Russia. I prefer dry hot climate as I spent my childhood in Southern Ukraine, but still better than some Chinese humid climate when you can hardly breathe + devastated ecology with awful air and poisoned rivers for the sake of hyperindustrialisation. Imagine living in this cancer incubator, breathing with all kind of chemicals every day.
