I think that sounds right.
Do you think Ukraine is more different than Romania.
I know there is some inter related influence between Transylvanian Hungarian/Szekely folk music and dancing and Romanian Transylvanian folk music and folk dance. But I dont think much mutual influence between Hungarians and Ukrainians ?
Although historically I think the Conqueror Hungarians were possibly in Ukraine steppe for sometime before entering Pannonia.
But I imagine Ukrainians are most different then possibly Serbs and Romanians.
I think closest culturewise Slovaks,Austrians,Croats and Romanians.

Afghan folk music (don't similar at all to Hungarian folk music):
This music even sounds much more eastern than the Gypsy folk music from Hungary (despite the homeland of the Gypsies, NW India are not far from Afghanistan).
