I remember that in the early nineties a new model for the Indo-European language family origin was introduced by Gamkrelidze and Ivanov and it was almost immediately accepted by the academic world. So, this model was first pioneered by the Russians/USSR.





At the beginning Gamkrelidze and Ivanov thought that proto-Indo-European came from around the 'Armenian plateau', but recent academic work has shown that it has to be not from the 'Armenian Plateau' but more to the southeast of it, because proto-Indo-Hittite (first proto-Indo-Europeans) had not only the biggest part of Iran_ChL/CHG in them but also some Mesopotamian-like ancestry in them.


proto-Indo-Hittite (PIEans) = Iran_ChL/CHG + some ancient Mesopotamian.


That is why the focus is now shifted from the 'Armenian Plateau' more toward 'Kurdistan'.

It shouldn't be surprising, everyone were "brown" around that time and age, even the WHGs. BLond hair started to appear along with CWC/Funnelbeaker, that means much later.. Even some neolithics had mutation for blond hair. I began to believe too that this idea of very white WHGs and PIEs is overrated. they were all swarthy as hell back then.

But essentially, I think some later PIEs had dark blond hair,white skin, and brown eyes actually. They were stemming from ANE...

Even that mexican looks caucasoid. There are mexicans who have that skull shape, probably a recombination resulting in this archaic face. So this is why Yamnaya and others might have been of the same combination that they looked almost the same.

There's also anthony quinn who looked like this, and a european example: Simon Callow.

They can be both highly ANE, Mexicans through Amerindian admix, so that would be expected to find some similarities at least.
