    Default Full genome test

Would the answers i would get from a full genome test as far as ancestry goes be totally different to a more standard one (coupled with GEDmtach) or they would be negligible and i would just get more information that has to do with personal traits and medical stuff ?

You would get more personal traits and medical stuff. This level of testing is very overrated. You want to do yourself a favor? Do Big Y testing. Autosomal testing is messy and the truth is it goes back only one generation. They do not want you to know that. You want the details? You need to do FTDNA Big Y and join every project that relates to you. They are free.

I did the Big Y with FTDNA years ago.
In my experience it was a total rip off.
I also did the Mtdna with them which has some interesting results.
None of my Y Haplo or Mtdna matches were close.
All very distant matches even though I did the test in 2016.

Personally I prefer autosomal DNA results.
The Ydna haplogroup that I have does not have that much significance in terms of my Paternal autosomal ethnic background. My Ydna Hap is probably early Germanic
but my Paternal heritage is east central european and there is no recent or significant Germanic ancestors or strong cultural affiliations so whilst it is still interesting it is only 1 component and who knows how long ago that particuliar paternal ancestor individual was Germanic. I will give you another example there are although very rare even people in the middle east that can have my haplogroup I have seen this in the Yhaplo project groups on FTDNA maybe they had an ancestor from the crusades. But point is doesnt really make them German if they are predominantly autosomally say Palestinian.
For me FTDNA has not been great , my Origins result has changed significantly over the updates since I tested in 2016. The current update of Myorigins for me is pretty weird. My Ancestry and 23me result much more realistic.

Yeah i agree, i alr saw a Italian with E1b1a, but he scored like 89% Italian and the rest majority Frech and German with few West Asian and NA, have a SSA haplogroup dont makes him African or anything, i have both my Ydna and Mtdna of SSA origin, but i am mostly West Eurasian and almost 45% European
More Details about my Bahian & Portuguese ancestry:
    Spoiler!

I have found several close matches including two immediate family members in Poland. Autosomal testing is garbage. G25 is a joke too. I can plug in several different ethnicities and come up with very similar distances.

The opposite has been the case for me.
I have got some close and recognisable family members through autosomal matches.
I have been able to discern more info about my family tree through conversing and seeing family tree's of
    autosomal matches.
Big Y for me has not been fruitfull but some autosomal calculators either gedmatch type or G25 have correctly discerned correctly my ethnic admixture.

Is it true that they only go one generation back ? If thats true then why isnt that enough to know where you came from ? In the end if you know anthropology, have pictures of two to three generations back and combine it with your results you can easily tell whats going on.I have pictures three generations back and i can tell you not much has changed apart from maybe the color but im skeptical of that too (im talking about my fathers side).Of course im not gonna rely solely on any DNA company but have my raw data analyzed by GEDmatch too, does that also only go one generation back ?

When i said full genome tests i meant something like what Nebula does where they pass your DNA 1000 times through the machine and do a "deep ancestry" thing that costs 1000 euros.

I have also asked this question again in another thread, how much do you think phenotype corelates with genes ? I believe that unless someone is ultra mixed then theres not that much of a difference but ill wait on your answers

One of you sais do Y DNA the other autosomal which one should i believe ?

My final question,do you people identify yourselfs with your phenotype or your genotype ?

With Big Y I have traced back to the 1300s. No autosomal testing would have led me this far back. Phenotypes don't mean shit. Me and my brother do not even look related. We have two totally different body types and different faces.
