After the fall of communism, he is the most successful leader of Hungary. He has been in government for 12 years. He was a young liberal politican, who expelled the communism from Hungary.
Popular politican in my country, because he have a strong social policy (for example, the family policy), under his administration the Hungarian economy developed a lot, he stands up for the interests of Hungary, also he have a populist rethoric and the he is much better than his leftist opponent, Ferenc Gyurcsány (when he was the PM, Hungary were much worse than now, technically he is the reason of the continuous victory of Orbán).

He is a very divisive leader on international level; according to right-wingers Orbán is a very good leader, who are patriotic, he protect the Christian vaules and stop the immigration, also his family policy helps the Hungarian demographics.

According to left-wingers, he is a corrupt semi-dictator, who is suppresses the free media and the independent judiciary, also he is racist, homophobic, antisemitic and the buddy of Putin.

The western leftist media the latter gives a image of Orbán.

What do you think about him and his policy? I'm very curious about the opinion of the foreign TA users!

Technically yes. In reality, he is a democratic leader, who have patriotic policy and he oppose the far-right and far-left equally, but he is very corrupt.

Yes, he made many pro-government medias, to counter the "independent" press of the left, but in Hungary there is media freedom, but on the TV and radio there are ovbious pro-goverment dominance.

I think, he is the Christian version of Erdogan (except, that Orbán is less authoritarian).

He significantly lowered the impact of the 2015 invasion, this alone makes him not just a Hungarian but European hero and is something I will always love him for.

I like that he protects children from sexualization/pedophilia.

I like that he does not follow the NATO bullshit on Ukraine.

His tax policy seems nice too.
