Envy

A lot of Poles assume that if someone is let's say rich than it has to be a result of some scam or thievery. While in reality only a tiny minority of people in Poland are affluent because of some fraud or as a result of corruption. Also Poles have a tendency to backstab fellow Poles nicely. We're much nicer towards foreigners than to each other.

As for social inconveniences of Germans: they do often intervene and lecture each other.

It's not a big deal, so no death sin imo, but it can be a little bit annoying. I can give two examples. I'm living somewhat remote in the forest and the next house is abt. 400 m away. But there is NO other house at all in my street.

- One day I made a big fire in my (big) garden and soon later came three trucks firefighters with blue lights and a police car, because someone had reported a big fire shine (it was when I started the fire). I stopped them at my gate and said all is okay. The police asked if they may check it. I said no, I don't approve you entering my garden and everything is fine here. Later I had some more paper work, because the firefighters wanted me to pay abt. 800 euro for their unnecessary operation. I eventually fought that off, but there was some effort to do.

- Another time I had put my waste bin to the street for getting it emptied. There are three waste bins, one for paper, one for plastic etc. and one for ultimate waste. All of these do have differnt days when the waste is collected and some have a weekly rhytm and others a two-week rhytm. I'm totally annoyed by that. I admit that it had been some confusions, partly I put it out the wrong day, partly the right day, but the waste collection missed me because they had new drivers that did not really know the route. I was somewhat pissed so I let the waste bin stand there for the next day and so on till it was eventually emptied. And then suddenly I get an anonymous but friendly and lecturing letter. It stated that someone often is driving along my street and sees the waste bins stand there partly for longer times and then was in the letter a schedule for this waste collections added. Wtf? I was annoyed and ashamed but I now look it up more thoroughly and better. So that are my compatriots...

This one's funny. If you told this to a South American policeman (especially if you were a minority), they at least threat you and at most beat you up. It's cool to see how Germans respect privacy.
