It depends. When they look very foreign I'd see them as non-european for sure!

At this moment my closest gf is very British, even after 4 generations.
So, her looks and her identity is a match.

My closest male friend looks Aboriginal, but everything about him is very British as well.
So, I consider him to be a “white man” as does his immediate Aboriginal side of family.

Well, majority of mongrels in Europe look no different from non-Europeans. You can polish a turd but it'll still be a turd regardless.

Obviously. If he doesn't look full European (it's not really pan-Euro but country specific) then he is not, no matter how culturally assimilated he/she is. As you mention, the exception would be half Euros half light MENA Caucasoids who look and act fully European but this type is not very common.

You either belong to an ethnicity or you don't. In this case it's a black and white thing more than a scale of greys. Foreigners and mixes don't fit although non-whites are more likely to accept mixes if one half is white while whites are more likely to follow the one drop rule. I guess because white features are considered superior worldwide.

Look, my opinion may be a little biased since I'm mixed and not European too, but anyway I think that if the independent person is mixed or not, if he chooses one of the cultures and accepts it he can be welcomed by the same , even though the person in the case is not totally a foreigner by blood, for me a 1/2 English and 1/2 Nigerian but who immigrated to England, lives there, is willing to his country and loves his land is as British as a full blooded Englishman, and in time he will marry an Englishwoman and in generation and generation this mixture will be totally diluted, at most there may be a haplogroup left perhaps, but who cares? But I see that many mixed people use the 1/2 French argument for example to be able to live in the country, even if he doesn't give a damn about France and doesn't like the nation he tries to deceive others just to have financial comfort. As I said, I'm not European so my opinion may not be valid, but for me immigration to Europe should be extremely limited to people who go there for work or Euro-descendants (whether they are "pure" or not) it's sad to see the beautiful and old Paris losing its shine by this wave of terrorist immigrants and above all they don't even have a drop of French blood, I've met many legal immigrants, but the minority that really contributes doesn't compensate for the damage that the bad ones do, but I think it's better that Europeans speak their opinions, I just wanted to leave a comment of mine here.

On reflection …

Sometimes posting on the forum is like ‘listening to yourself’ and after posting, I realized - OMG just how much my atm closest female and male friend have in common.

Besides both being very British …
Both were involved - big time- in reconciliation movement some years back. So, they would have known about each other, just not met on a personal level.
Both are university level educated.
Both are sports coaches, fitness instructors.
Both are community events, programs organizers.
Both are down to earth practical people ...
The list goes on and on and on …

Just as well I am not a narcissist, a jealous person, because I think those two should meet. Once they start talking they would get on like a ‘house on fire’, take off like growing wings, inspiring each other & leaving me to dust in their wake …..

I know a guy who is about a third Black, looks Arab or north African but acts totally white, has white music tastes, love of nature, countryside, craft beer. I see him as a white guy basically.
