Agustina de Aragón
The result is consistent with the descriptions of the physiognomy of the heroine of the Sieges of Zaragoza, who ended her days in Ceuta, and to whom General Palafox referred to as a young woman who "was not beautiful, but attractive, tall, lively and well-built".
The scientific team of the program has been able to confirm that Agustina measured about 170 centimeters, a tall height for a woman at that time. Her death took place at around 71 years of age, as history proves, and although it is known that she died of bronchopneumonia, this condition has left no trace in her bones.
What the forensic anthropologists have been able to find out is that she was a woman with an important physical activity and in the last years of her life she must have walked with difficulty due to the wear and tear of her lower limbs. Francisco Etxeberría, medical forensic anthropologist, highlights the existence of a sinking in the tibial plateau, possibly due to age.
He died at his home at 37 Soberanía Nacional Street (now Real Street) in Ceuta on May 29, 1857, at the age of 71, due to bronchopneumonia.
