Russian autochauvinists hate Balkanites, while you have young Russians who are mad about Balkans and everything related to Balkans.

    Pretty cool memory!

One of most vivid memories of my parents new Year in Krakow in 1988 was evening they spent with Russian (Soviet) officers and their wifes in some basement of Polish sindikalni dom in god forsaken suburb of Krakow in soc-realis style.

They were supposed to sleep in a fancy Hotel in city centre, but they were cheated (I guess) and put to sleep in that worker's assembly in suburbia. There was very little enterteinment available and places to spend money, so they ended up staying in that place because they heard the party from basement and Russians invited them to join

It was surreal experience. Ofc with lot of votka and caviar.

In Montenegro Ukrainians + Russians are currently about 10% of total population. It is the highest percentage in the Balkans and probably in Europe outside of ex Soviet space.

I said to one Montenegrin 'Vlachbanian' (those are anti-Serbian slavophobic Montenegrins who claim Vlach and Albanian roots of their nation) that Russians and Ukrainians will give them extra Balto-Slavic DNA.
Maybe Montenegrins from least Slavic SW Slavs in genetic sense became most Slavic in the future.

Ukrainians appeared in Vojvodina first time on the census in 1981 when smaller part of Rusyns declared themselves Ukrainians. After that smaller part of the Rusyns in Vojvodina always declare themselves Ukrainians on the censuses.

In Russia racist nordicism and neo-nazims are recent phenomenons imported from the west. After the break up od Soviet Union neo-nazims become pretty popular among urban Russian youth, and people which spread that in Russia for sure were connected with western intelligences. Young Russians experienced in 1990s disintegration of the middle class, poverty, increased of drug addiction, rise of the tycoons mostly of Jewish origin, the mass departure of Russian females to foreign countries to get married for foreigners or engage in prostitution etc. All that was frustrating for the young Russian men, someone offeted them neo-nazims and racist nordicism as solution and many accepted it. They started to hate and often attacks persons which doesn't look like typical Russians according to their standards, mostly darker pigmented persons. Their target were especially Caucasians and central Asians, because they were most numerous wogs in Russian cities.
